The Land of Sign On Days!

Well Friday saw me at my first sign on appointment in nearly 7 years! Seriously why do people who work in job centres think that they can be condescending idiots who look down on the rest of us!! They seem to forget that they are slowly being replaced by online services and if it wasn't for the rest of us they would not even have a job in the first place would they!! You would think that they would be a tiny bit grateful that the misfortune of the rest of us means they have a job!! I mean it isn't really anything too much to ask for is it!! They really are no better than us are they, they are still human after all.

Anyway, Wednesday sees me as having to attend a really pointless 45minute employ me session. I have no idea what this even is or what I will have to do for this pointless session. All I know is that it will be of no real benefit to anyone even attending the session as most of us are never actually going to really be employed any time soon for one reason or another.

Whilst waiting for my appointment there was a lady who is in her late 50s waiting to be seen by her advisor to sign on. Now this lady has a walking seat aid, can barely manage walking 5ft before being out of breath and has both hands in wrist supports. To be completely honest I thought the poor woman looked ready for the scrap heap. She looked dreadful. She is being forced to sign on and look for a full time job. Now every normal person knows that this lady is NEVER going to be interviewed for a job let alone employed. She is more suitable for a disability benefit it is blatantly obvious, however the morons at the job centre think otherwise!! Seriously who do these people think they are!! Surely they can see that they are just making this poor woman feel incredibly awful and that they are only setting her up to fail. I honestly felt for her I really did. From the words she was speaking to me, she was honestly heartbroken and felt like they were acting in a demeaning way towards her. I really do wish this lady the best for her future but personally her future is one of rest and by a beautiful beach for 2 weeks because out of everyone I saw in that building she is the only one I could see that deserved it.

Yesterday saw myself baking with Jess for the entire day. Out of the £5 i spent on ingredients as I already had a load in, we managed one lemon drizzle, 20 small buns and 10inch chocolate cake covered in Mint Aero balls, matchmakers and after 8 mints!! That should set us up for the next few days. In order to try save money we are going to try bake more instead of buying cakes as it is unbelievable how expensive treats are!! I never buy ready meals anyway so I do save a lot of expense there but I am noticing just how expensive even cooking from scratch is now getting. I have noticed my shopping bill go up by at least £10 over the past year. Scrimping and saving is becoming a must, now more so than ever! Any tips out there?????
